Extra Credit Opportunity (Spring 2018): Attend a Presentation at the Annual Meeting of the Minds research conference in Kochoff Hall on Friday May 11th. Write a two-page summary of any research that you learned about while attending the conference.
Course Overview
Psychology uses statistical evidence to test the claims/hypotheses made by researchers. This course focuses on developing your understanding of statistics and their effective use in psychological research. Mastering this skill set enables one to provide stronger argument to either support or refute a claim based on research findings. Understanding basic statistics should prove valuable to all citizens in their personal lives by enabling one to better separate fact from fiction or distortion.
Specific Course Goals
• Conduct a thorough literature review.
• Identify, select & perform appropriate statistical analyses for your data.
• Develop accurate interpretation based on the specifics of the variables involved & logical conclusions drawn from results of data analysis.
• Write clear cogent summaries & interpretation/analysis of results in APA style.
