New: Libations' Baby Drinkers Program
Arlo Clark-Foos
In an effort to recruit new craft drinkers as young as possible, we are initiating the new Baby Drinkers program. Basically we offer to babysit your child and then get them drunk on craft beer while you are gone. The first initiate is my daughter Gaia, pictured above with a bottle of Cantillon's Kriek. Please email us if you would like to take advanatage of this service.

2009 Terrapin Rye Squared

In just under one week, Terrapin will be releasing their 2009 vintage of Rye Squared. To celebrate, Trappeze will be rolling out kegs of 2009, 2008, and even an Oak Aged 2008. Don't miss this Rye Squared Extravaganza. It will be sure to leave you a bit twisted.

Smuttynose in Georgia!
Smuttynose was founded in 1994 by the folks who started the Northampton and Portsmouth Breweries. Our beers - Shoals Pale Ale, Old Brown Dog, Portsmouth Lager, IPA, Robust Porter, The Big Beer Series & our seasonal specialties - are distributed throughout New England and the mid-Atlantic states and now in Georgia too. All About Beer magazine had this to say: “Smuttynose has a well-earned reputation as one of America’s best all around breweries.”

Terrapin Anniverary Party: April 11th
It's hard to believe the brewery here in Athens has been open for almost one year but it has. You know you have reaped the rewards, now come out and wish the guys a Happy Anniverary by drinking more of their beers, eating some food, and listening to some great music. More details will follow as they are announced.

Review: Dieu du ciel! Péché Mortel

Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché Mortel is brewed to be savored.

Style Profile: Maibock
Styling & Profiling
Maibock
The Maibock style of beer tends to be lighter in color than other Bock beers and often has a significant hop character with a noticeable alcohol around the same as a traditional Bock. Maibocks are customarily served in the spring and are oftentimes interrelated with spring festivals and celebrations more often in the month of May.

Great Maibocks: Spaten Maibock, Smuttynose Maibock, Rogue Dead Guy Ale...

Cooking from the Cask
Westmalle Dubbel Pancakes
Ingredients
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1 cup Westmalle Dubbel
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Pour in the egg, beer and melted butter; stir with a whisk just until blended - a few lumps are okay.

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Coat with vegetable oil or cooking spray. Spoon about 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot surface for each pancake. When bubbles appear on top of the pancakes, flip, and cook until browned on the other side.
Servings: Depends on how big you make the pancakes
