My name is Ali Cheaito. I am a graduate Software Engineering student. I am a programmer at Jackson National Life Insurance Company. My job consists mainly of writing application to support the financial systems my company runs. Such applications are written in a Mainframe under a TSO environment on an IBM Z/OS operating system. Most Mainframe programming is done in COBOL and HLASM. C and C++ are occasionally used as well. The code we write as financial programmer is geared towards stability, and 24/7 availability as any code problems in a production environment could cost substantial monetary loss to the company.
