Goal:
To teach children to the best of my abilty.
To be a succeessful leader and role model in the classroom. To be
a true friend and a guide to my students and prepare them successfully
for the future ahead.
Objectives:
To give 110% every day I am teaching in the classroom.
Every student I encounter will succeed in some area
or another.
Background: I
have had two pracitcum classes so far, one in a daycare center and other
in a second grade classroom. I
was in a daycare center facility on the University of Michigan-Dearborn
Campus where I worked with
children from ages two through five. I also spent some time at McDowell
Elementary School in Taylor,
Michigan. At McDowell, I worked with second graders and I was able
to observe and activiley participate
with the children in their normal school environment. Finally, I
also have coached the Brownstown Middle
School seventh grade cheerleading team. I was coach in the Fall and
Winter of 2002. Unfortunaltey because
I am a full time student, I was only able to coach for one year.
However, I do intend to continue to coach
after I graduate from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
Futrue Plans: When
I do become a teacher, I will be certified to teach Kindergarten through
eigth grade. The philosophy I
believe in is the Construcitivist approach. My classroom will be
the opposite of the type of classroom that I
experineced in elementary and middle school. The desks will be in
groups instead of in rows and the students
will learn from and from their inquiry based experiences. The students
will engage in many group projects and
activities that will in return help them develop social skills and the
importance of being able to work with other
people.
