Fall 2005

For your term project you will need to design and implement a complete computer game. You may create any type of game you wish and implement it on any platform. Your game does need to have reasonable storyline for its genre. Your game will need to make use of multimedia components in a non-trivial manner. You will need to have it running during our game fair during our final exam period. If your game is large enough, you may work with a partner.

This assignment will give you an opportunity to begin work on the specification and design for your game. Your game does not have to be original, but should not copy an existing game. To receive full credit your design document will need to contain non-trivial sections as defined below.

  • Production team description
  • Target audience
  • Game play
  • Production tools

Game Specification

  • What is it like to play the game?
  • Interface mockup
  • Summary of story line
  • Storyboards
  • Character bibles
  • Flowcharting
  • Level or scene outlines

 

Your write up should be 10 to 15 pages long. On 11-16-05, you will break up into small groups and conduct walkthroughs of your game design. Figure that you will have 10-15 minutes to explain your game concept and get feedback from your classmates. I will provide review forms that you will need to turn in with your game design document.
