Rector Read
Dan's letter regarding |
| The
Rev. Daniel S. Appleyard arrived at Christ Church, Dearborn in September
of 1993, after serving parishes in St. Louis, MO and Kansas City, KS. Having
grown up in Connecticut, Florida and Pennsylvania, he is a graduate of Berkeley
Divinity School at Yale University and is married to Elizabeth Appleyard
and is father of Julian (7 yrs.) and Isabelle (5 yrs.).
From the beginning of his time with our community, Dan has sought to establish an environment where we all share in the ministry Christ has given us. So, the relationship between the clergy, Vestry and the people of the parish, as leaders in the church, is seen as team striving to serve God in this life. The ministry of all baptized Christians, working as servants in this world is the model that this parish has moved to embrace in its day to day life. At the time of his call to be Rector, four goals were set for us to work together towards. 1. To assimilate new members into the parish. 2. To revitalize youth and children’s programs. 3. To expand Adult Education opportunities for the enrichment of our Christian journeys. 4. To increase our involvement in community and diocesan affairs. Although
all these goals have been addressed and completed to a degree, they still
continue to help us focus on the challenges before us as we enter the
21st century of life as the Body of Christ – the Church. |
