According to my son, there is only one true sport:  Football.  He has played football since the fifth grade and has coached varsity and junior varsity high school football for eight years. He was a defensive tackle for Edsel Ford High School when they won the League Championship.

Darren  graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and  Secondary Physical  Education (2001) and has earned his  Master's  Degree in Sports Management and Athletic Administration (2003).  He is now pursuing his Doctorate in educational leadership and administration from WMU.

He continues to serve as the president/general manager of Thunder Softball, a competitive summer team in Kalamazoo.    In the past, he has coached at Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, Paw Paw High School, St. Clement Catholic High School in Center Line and Annapolis High School in Dearborn Heights.  Of course, his favorite school to coach  was Edsel, his alma mater..

Two years ago,  he was an Adjunct Instructor in the HPERS department at Olivet College and the Assistant Coach for the Women's Softball team.

Darren & Heather, 12/8/01, WMU

Currently, Darren is the Athletic Director, Transportation Director and Director of Alternative Education for the Manton Consolidated School District and the Manton Rangers sports.  The city of Manton is located 25 miles south of Traverse City, Michigan.  The high school colors are orange and black (Oh, oh--shades of Dearborn High, the rival of Edsel Ford).

Darren and Heather became officially engaged a little after midnight on New Year's Eve 2006.
