"Oh my, I've forgotten how much I hate space travel!" ~ C3PO

Trip Reports: 2005 | 2004 | 2003

My fascination with rollercoasters began at an early age. I was likely 2 or 3 years old when I first rode the "Junior Gemini" at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. Because I was a wee one, family members had to ride it over and over and over with me. :) I was fortunate that my brother, Erik, also grew to love rollercoasters and we were each other's riding buddy as we took on what was the biggest and baddest for Cedar Point at that time: Magnum XL-200. I can still hear his panic every time we went up the lift, even though he loved the ride more than anything once we were going downhill!

Into adulthood, I made friends with
Linda from my current job who is also a coaster nut. Our first trip together was to "Beastbuzz" in 2003, a coaster enthusiast event at
Paramount's Kings Island. We realized then that we were two peas in a pod and partnered up for subsequent trips to Cedar Point, PKI and beyond. One of the greatest experiences was our "Coaster Odyssey" in summer 2004 that took us to Michigan's Adventure, Holiday World and PKI.

On the left, we are on Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. If you're not "in the know," TTD is 420' feet high and you travel down the track at 120 MPH. If we look a little windblown in the picture here, that's why! (I'm in the second row in the gray Hard Rock cafe t-shirt!)

I cannot explain the fascination with coasters, but they definitely do not make me sick. The rides are a thrill that make me giggle uncontrollably when I ride.
