| It has been pointed out to me, correctly, that answer E is also correct for multiple choice #15 on the exam as the displacement is in the same direction as the velocity. So I will accept either B or E for that question. Your exams have been regraded accordingly. New point distribution graphs have been posted. | |||||||||||||

Many student's mis-read the Learning Opportunity. The velocity was created by the push not by the masses. Hence the acceleration asked for is NOT related to the velocity provided. Please review the posted solution to find out what you got wrong and why.

Students did not do very well on today's Learning Opportunity. Please review the posted solution to find out what you got wrong and why.
| Learning Opportunity #09 has been graded and posted.
You were given the wrong Start Up Quiz on Wednesday. The correct one will be given on Friday. Exam #1 is scheduled for Monday, October 12th, from 7:30-9:00 pm in 1500 SSB (the large lecture hall next to the class lecture hall). The exams are the hardest part of this course; they are definitely harder than the web homework. I would suggest you organize your studying now. The best way to study for the exams is to practice doing the old exams (all of which are available on the course web page). Print out the relevant exams and try them on your own to see what topics you are weak on. THEN AND ONLY THEN, print out the solutions to see how well you did. You should also look at the "How to Guide " which is on the class handouts page. It has a number of suggestions concerning how to study for and how to take a physics exam. You also take advantage of the Supplemental Instruction program. These students can help you obtain a deeper understanding of the course material.
| ANNOUNCEMENT: I will not be meeting any of my classes today. Prof. Jin Wang will handle the P150 lecture. Students will have a Start Up Quiz and a Learning Opportunity to complete. Prof. Jeff Prentis will cover my P150 Discussion class. Students will do a group problem. | |||||||||||||

| I am now reporting MINIMUM grades on Grade Report. You have at least a grade of B- if you are above the class average in total points which, this morning, is 63.9 points. Those with 40 points or less have not been doing all of the assigned work hence have grades less than a C. A graph of the point distribution is now available at the left. | |||||||||||||
| Student performance on today's Learning Opportunity left something to be desired. These activities are designed for the student to obtain 5 out of 5 points PROVIDED that they talk to their neighbors and make a real attempt to learn the issues. It seems that students are just copying from each other without asking whether the method is correct. All of today's assignments have been posted to Grade Report. Web Homework, Chapter04, is due Friday at 9 am. | |||||||||||||
| All of today's assignments have been posted to Grade Report. Web Homework, Chapter03, is due Monday at 9 am. | |||||||||||||
