A brief biography:
John G. Cherng is an Associate professor of Mechanical Engineering Department,
University of Michigan-Dearborn. He received both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees
from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University
of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennesee in 1975 and 1978 respectively. Before he
joined the University of Michigan-Dearborn, he worked for InterNorth, Inc.
(Enron Corporation) as a Principal Research Scientist in its Research Division.
His field of research interests are acoustics, noise and vibration controls,
Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided-Manufacturing (CAM). He
has conducted research projects in impact vibration of pneumatic tools, noise
controls of shock absorbers, machining spindles, acoustic metrology. He is a
registered professional engineer and member of ASME, SAE, and SME.
