If you have never played Laser Tag before, then I must ask you: What have you been doing? Laser Tag is, in my opinion, the ultimate adventure. Sport, game, hobby, or whatever else you might call it, nothing beats that 15 minute heart-ponding burst of adreneline. It's like a fight for your life . . . Survival of the fitest.
My fascination with Laser Tag started about 8-10 years ago. When I went with my mom to visit my brother in Denver, Colorado, I saw a commercial for this thing called Photon. It looked so cool, I had to try it. So we went, and I loved it. When I got back home to Michigan, I looked in the phonebook to see if there was any such place here. Sure enough, there it was, Photon. Unfortunately, I had only discovered it about the time it was about to end. Due to poor management, most (eventually all) of the Photons were going out of business.
Many variations have come and gone, but most were over relatively quickly. Now, in the last few years, Laser Tag has become a lot more widespread. You can find it, in one variation or another, in most every major city. I found Zap Zone in Canton, Michigan this last summer. I have been going there with a small group of friends every week or two since. The maze is not as big as Photon, nor as cool, but it's the best there is for now. After my first visit, I swore I'd never go back to Zap Zone. That's how poorly it lived up to my experience with Photon. But you learn to enjoy what you have, & I love it now. It was just an adaptaion thing: resistance to something different.
I have recently found several other lasertag centers in the area, my favorite being Laser Force in Taylor, Michigan. Some of them aren't so good, but they all have their good points. I have some reviews of the places I have been. So far, I have reviewed both Zap Zone and Laser Force. I currently am writing reviews on 3 other centers in the area. I have a list of other laser tag centers, and am trying to check them out. You can be sure I'll have something to say about them when I do.
I have seen that someone has purchased the rights to Photon and is recreating that chain in the east coast states. I can't wait for it to reach here. Good luck to those involved.
