Civil War discussion, Oct. 4
While you are responsible for reading and thinking about all 4 primary sources assigned for today, I am assigning each student one document to focus on for class discussion. When thinking about the meanings of each document, use the types of questions we used to analyze the Revolutionary War sources (e.g. Abigail Adams.)
Morgan document: Maher, Emily, Jed, Megan, Ashley, Shawna, Hillary, Danielle, Aziza
Kirkland
document: Amanda B., Amanda W., Kristi, Katherine, Rebecca, Remy, Rod, Lisa
Clanton Thomas
document: Robert, Kelli, Lauren, Michael, Tyiea, Latrice, Sarah, Katy, Bri
Livermore document :
Samar A., Steve, Samar H., Melissa, Leeann, Jolynn, Tasheena, Marino, Inkyung
Additionally, when reading the Civil War material in Born for Liberty, consider the following questions:
How were lives of different groups of women (enslaved, southern white, northern white middle-class, northern white working-class) affected by the Civil War? What changed and what didn’t change?
What similarities do you see between women’s experiences during the Civil War and during the Revolutionary War?
