School and Student Population

• Frank E. Weiss Elementary,  Woodhaven, MI

• Currently I am a fourth grade teacher.
• Weiss Elementary has approximately 300 students and  is located within a suburban setting.
• My classroom generally has 25 to 28 students every year.
• In terms of student population, there is roughly an even amount of boys and girls in the classroom.  The majority of students are Caucasian, which follows the building's race/ethnicity trend.
• A majority of students have computer access from home and are familiar with the Internet.

Technology Environment

• My classroom is equipped with one desktop computer that students primarily utilize for Accelerated Reader Tests and to work on Math Facts in a Flash.  The Gibraltar School District provides me with my own laptop computer which is used for lesson planning, taking attendance utilizing Zangle, and for video streaming.  My classroom has a television set along with a DVD/VCR player.  The television is linked to Weiss' video/audio access.
• Weiss Elementary has one computer lab containing 30 desktop computers, all linked to network access.  The building also has 40 laptop computers which can travel from room to room.
• Currently both laptop and desktop computers have limited capabilities due to maintenance and network issues.
