Musical Influences

Here are some of my favorite artists/bands/groups that have molded my taste in music today

Bad Boy Blues

A fan favorite of my parents, the Bad Boy Blues were my first exposure to American/Western music. From my parents' dusty old records and CDs, the Bad Boy Blues are a fond part of my childhood karaoke nights. They are a New-Wave Dance/Pop group that found their spotlight in the 1980s with their biggest hits such as You're a Woman and Pretty Young Girl. Though admittedly lackluster, they sparked my love of classic 80s/90s pop, dance, and rock classics.

Eurythmics

My exploration of the New-Wave craze of the 80s and 90s had begun to grow old until I had discovered the Eurythmics. The Eurythmics are a British pop duo consisting of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart. They found their rise to fame in 1983 when they released their single Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). They stood out from the rest of the New-Wave with their extensive use of synthesizers and is now a major group in the Synth-Pop subgenre of the New-Wave. My interest piqued with Synth-Pop's unique techno sound. In addition, Synth-Pop is not restricted to physical instruments or talent, and can be made by anyone.

Daft Punk

Evolving from the New-Wave into the new millenia, Daft Punk is a French electronic music duo formed by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter in the late 90s as part of the French House movement. House/French House music is a subgenre of the overall synth/electronic genre that can be characterized by their heavy combination of traditional music elements and electronic synthesizers; often used to create club anthems. House differentiates from other forms of electronic music by still utilizing traditional instrumentation like voice rather than using straight modulation. In addition it takes heavy inspiration from older genres like Disco, Jazz, and Soul. Some of the tracks that helped Daft Punk reach their stardom are Around the World and One More Time.
