Typical deadlines

Mid January - Mid-Feb - summer REU applications due

Feb 15th - campus research grant deadline

Early March - AAS Summer meeting abstract submission deadline

mid-March - Chandra application deadline

Late-March / early April - Compact Objects in Michigan meeting

Mid-April - Natural Sciences poster session

Early April - GRE Physics Subject Test opportunity

Early October - GRE Physics Subject Test opportunity

October 15th - campus research grant deadline

Mid-December - late Jan - Grad school applications typically due

Meetings

(Update 2019-04-27: group meetings may resume in 2019 Summer, depending on student availability and interest.)

To keep track, I intend to have "group" meetings roughly once per fortnight (I aim to have a large fraction of the group at these meetings, though not necessarily the entire group). Typically one meeting will focus on goal setting and progress and/or technical issues, the other will be journal club.

In addition, I expect to hold one-on-one meetings with individual researchers roughly once every two weeks or as suggested by the pace of work.
